Ordering pages can be schizoid, as in terrible and confusing

Be careful when ordering clothes on Amazon – the ordering pages can be schizoid.

Check out this really bad ordering page example that I encountered:

When you change size or color of a clothing item, all of a sudden the price can change drastically, the seller changes, shipping costs change, Prime changes – in other words, nothing stays the same. Admittedly, I was naive with this assumption, but bear with me. You’ll notice that if you roll over different color options, there is no indication that the all the related cost, seller, shipping, etc. items┬áchange until you click on the color – then you have to rescan the page to determine what changed with your click – which is a bad user interface. This is not usual for Amazon.

I thought I was ordering a pair of cargo shorts that cost $32 with free returns – it ended up costing $55 with no free returns (I had to return an item and the shipping cost was $12). The ordering page sucks big time. Sorry Amazon, but you messed up on this one big time, seriously. Please improve ordering pages like this – you’ll have happier customers (and business partners with less returns processing).
